About PDXOSGEO

The Portland chapter of OSGeo is focused on learning and teaching about open data, maps, and spatial applications. We like code and good conversation.

PDXOSGEO is a Safe Space: All Are Invited

At PDXOSGEO we acknowledge that we live, map, and hack on stolen land in a world where there is inequitable access to technologic hardware and knowledge, and that negative consequences are unfairly burdened on marginalized communities, particularly Indigenous, Black, and other minoritized racial communities. Our group strives to share information and support affordable, accessible, and powerful GIS tools in an effort to dismantle barriers and empower these communities.

We welcome and encourage all humans to nerd out and explore with us, and strive to ensure that all races, ethnicities, abilities, sexes, genders, sexual orientations, ages, classes, and other identities inclusive of intersectionality can belong, be heard and seen, and participate in safety.

PDXOSGEO seeks to improve access, transparency, and understanding around map data, technology, and storytelling for all humans in and around the greater Portland-metro region.
